QUICK TIPS TO MAINTAIN YOUR CONCRETE OVERLAY SYSTEM
-
Regular, periodic cleaning is the best overall assurance of a long life for your CCI finish and will keep it looking new. Soap (laundry detergent, dish soap, etc) and water will clean 90% of all stains. The higher the pressure, the better. Citrus degreasers can be used on heavy oil stains. Stains left for long periods of time may require high pressure washing by Creative Services or a qualified professional. (Note: Fuel and asphalt oils can become almost impossible to remove, even with high pressure if not removed in a reasonable period of time, so clean it regularly.)
-
NEVER use any solvent-based cleaners. DO NOT USE SOLVENTS SUCH AS ACETONE, LAQUER THINNER, OR THE LIKE. Read label contents thoroughly.
-
White vinegar and water is the best solution for cleaning hard water and rust stains. CLR cleaner works great for stubborn rust stains. (Chlorine, Lime & Rust Remover, available in most grocery and hardware stores) Tough rust stains can be removed with light muriatic acid / water solution.(Scrub and rinse thoroughly)
-
Be careful not to scar the surface with sharp objects. Avoid dragging of heavy metal objects such as furniture.
-
Have your surface resealed every 2-3 years. This ensures that the surface remains non-porous.
-
Most snow-blowers will not harm the finish, but exercise caution and use a plastic snow shovel in the winter. (Salt and ice melters will not harm the finish in any way, in fact use regular rock salt instead of expensive ice melters!)
-
Fertilizer should be removed immediately after application. Most fertilizers contain iron oxide, which will cause rust stains that are very difficult to remove once they have dried. Blow off all pellets, and wash the surface thoroughly after application for best results.
